5 steps to up your self-talk

Would you like to up your self-talk?

Sharing 5 simple steps that I have found useful.

  1. Listen to your inner dialogue, don’t brush it aside
  2. Observe – acknowledge and notice your inner dialogue neutrally
  3. Challenge it – find evidence! See if it is true or a creation of your imagination. Data will always help you in solution finding
  4. Shift – replace negative self-talk by developing self-compassion, applying learnings from past and choose to do what is in your control
  5. Seek support – if you you need help in doing the above, developing a compassionate self, reach out for support or a discussion

Remember that use of positive statements/motivational quotes can serve as instant energiser rather than long term solutions. Hence called ‘pep-talk’. As a part of coaching, we invest time to understand your inner dialogue, observe it so that you can replace it appropriately.

What is your technique of changing your self-talk? Which statement provides you instant uplift?
